During the impromptu visit to the UK, my boyfriend and I had a short trip to Mont Saint-Michel in France. We had dreamed of visiting this magical place, and finally made it! We took buses from London all the way to Mont Saint-Michel, trying 3 bus companies – FlixBus, Ouibus (now BlaBlaBus), and Eurolines. Since I had wondered about the differences between bus companies in Europe, I made some notes on each ride. So here are my reviews of FlixBus, Ouibus, and Eurolines for this particular route! FlixBus After comparing schedules & prices for every leg of the journeys, we ended up using FlixBus twice for our outward bus journey: London to Paris & Paris to Le Mont Saint-Michel. The Channel-crossing coach service and the domestic one left different impressions on us, which was interesting to compare. London to Paris Boarding To make the most of our bus trip, we…

Are you looking for some ideas about places to visit in the UK? With opportunities to live in and visit the UK from 2012, I travelled a fair number of places in the UK, enough to list my top picks. Take a look at the list below if you’re fairly new to the UK for inspiration. If you’re a regular visitor or a resident in the UK, please tell me if any of these is your favourite too! The Shambles, York, North Yorkshire, England As expressed in the previous post about York, I love this city so much that I’ve visited here multiple times; and the Shambles accounts for 90% of the reason! ๐Ÿ™‚ This old street makes me feel like I’m in the wizarding world as if I walk down the Diagon Alley. I’ve only been to York during spring and summer, and hopefully, my next visit can happen…

Halloween is only about a fortnight away.ย Both my travel companion and I normally didn’t really make a fuss about Halloween (and we still don’t). But we did have one wishful image about what to do at Halloween if we ever did something about it. It was to visit Transylvania… in costume! The idea of Halloween in Transylvania was originally my buddy’s cup of tea who is full of vivid imaginations. But his briefing on the idea easily convinced me, and yes we made that happen last year. The following post is how we executed the idea and where we visited. The time in Romania was part of our adventure to the central/eastern Europe, and it was indeed a highlight of the holiday. If you’ve wondered a unique time for Halloween or wanted to get some exciting inspiration for travel destinations, save this post on your radar! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Before setting off…

The lovely memories inย Cornwall remain still, even though it has been many years ago since the summer holiday. As a big fan of the movie About Time, I wished to see the beautiful scenes in the movie in real life. As summer is approaching, recalling my best summer holiday I would like to show you some of the best destinations in Cornwall. St. Austell (Charlestown Harbour) The water is crystal clear at Charlestown Harbour, so clear that you cannot resist the temptation to dip your feet into the water. ๐Ÿ™‚ Charlestown Harbour is not very far from Tim’s family’s house in the movie About Time.ย You can actually stay at Porthpean House, as it is beloved for holidays and house parties. Portloe Tim and Mary’s wedding is one of the most memorable scenes in the movie because of the sudden downpour. That impressive scene was filmed here in Portloe, a small…

This time we are about to head for Windsor as a quick trip from London, since it is less than an hour away from London. Windsor has a lot to offer for visitors, and among many attractions I am going to share my visits to Windsor Castle and Legoland Windsor with some useful tips. Each attraction can take almost a whole day, so if you plan to visit both you will need to stay a night in Windsor. How to Go to Windsor from London There are two train stations where you can get off in Windsor: Windsor & Eton Central and Windsor & Eton Riverside. The train options from London take between 30 – 55 minutes, depending on which station you choose. 1. London Paddington – Windsor & Eton Central Takes between 26 – 39 minutesNeeds one transfer in Slough 2. London Waterloo – Windsor & Eton Riverside Takes 54…

You might have heard of the ‘Cotswolds’ when it comes to holidays in the UK. The Cotswolds indicates a region in south central England that has the Cotswolds hills. Its landscape is so beautiful that it is an AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). As the map below shows it spans across 6 counties in England: Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire, Somerset, Wiltshire and Worcestershire. If you were keen to see the cute, little countryside in England and encountered the Cotswolds, what you need to do now is to decide where in the Cotswolds. Although I haven’t managed to visit every place, I would like to introduce some of those I have been to. Hopefully the following list tempts you to pick destinations of the Cotswolds! P.S. I am going to continuously add when I get to visit more of them – stay tuned! The Cotswolds is made up of lots of places of different sizes…
